Are you here for the meeting?
September 19 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
2025 has seen a worldwide clamour for power.
However, only 65% of those aged 18 to 25 voted in the last UK election. 16 and 17-year-olds await their first opportunity to vote.
Stacked Wonky invite you to take a seat at a big, bold, beautiful meeting at St Mary’s Church on Friday 19 September at 1 pm. “Are You Here For The Meeting?” is a physical dance broadcast by the young. Experience their view of authority and the process of democracy through the etiquette of a reimagined gathering as they put their voices and bodies on the line.
Hailed as “extraordinary” by Bradley Hemmings, Artistic Director of Greenwich & Docklands International Festival, and a “brilliant, emotional piece of work” by EJ Benning, Co-Artistic Director of Strike A Light, the performance has stirred a great deal of feeling and won many supporters during the past 18 months. It heads to Bridgwater following an invite-only performance at Sadler’s Wells East in London.
Created by dance and music artists aged 14 to 21, “Are You Here For The Meeting” signals young people are not lesser within a professional performance context, they are simply different.
There will be two performances, one at 6.00pm and one at 8.00pm. Audiences for each performance should meet in Angel Crescent.
